Cynthia Baush
is a local artist living near Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Cynthia earned her BFA from the Corcoran School of Art and her MFA from the University of Maryland. As a longstanding Professor of Art at Frederick Community College, she has enjoyed helping her students tap into their creative potential in the areas of drawing and design.
The process of making her work starts with a collage of photographs that are printed on archival paper and completed with drawing elements using soft pastels. She likes to incorporate mythological and allegorical imagery with figurative elements. Human figures merge with animals and nature elements, and you see the story: the sacred connection between humanity and nature.
